Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or sausage)
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Brown the ground meat in the skillet, seasoning with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the rice and canned tomatoes, then pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Prepare a large baking dish by layering the chopped cabbage at the bottom.
  6. Combine the meat mixture evenly over the cabbage and cover with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden.
  8. Serve warm, optionally garnished with parsley or green onions.
