A creamy, savory French Onion Chicken Orzo Casserole packed with tender chicken, caramelized onions, and perfectly cooked orzo.
Ingredients
2 cups orzo
1 lb chicken thighs or breasts
2 large onions, caramelized
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup cream base (cream cheese or Greek yogurt)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
1. Season chicken and let rest.
2. Sear chicken until golden.
3. Caramelize onions or use pre-prepared onions.
4. Add orzo, broth, cream base, and seasonings to casserole.
5. Nestle chicken on top.
6. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes.
7. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a thicker casserole, reduce broth slightly.
For added richness, top with mozzarella before baking.
Use chicken thighs for best juiciness.
