Description
A classic dish of shrimp sautéed in a rich butter and garlic sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup white wine
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parsley, chopped for garnish
- Pasta, rice, or crusty bread for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the shrimp: Start with fresh or thawed shrimp. Make sure they are peeled and deveined. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Melt the butter: In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. The butter adds richness to the dish and helps sauté the garlic.
- Sauté garlic and red pepper: Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the melted butter. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can turn bitter.
- Cook the shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet. Cook them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Stir occasionally to ensure they cook evenly.
- Add wine and lemon juice: Pour in 1/2 cup of white wine and the juice of one lemon. Allow the mixture to come to a simmer. This step adds a bright and tangy flavor to the dish.
- Season to taste: Season with salt and pepper according to your preference. It’s always good to taste and adjust as needed.
- Serve it up: Once the shrimp are cooked and the sauce is bubbling, turn off the heat. Serve the Shrimp Scampi over your choice of pasta, rice, or alongside crusty bread. Don’t forget to garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh shrimp. Avoid overcooking to maintain tenderness.
