A quick and easy dish featuring tender beef, colorful bell peppers, and sweet onions, all enveloped in a savory sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef steak (flank or sirloin), sliced thinly against the grain
- 2 cups bell peppers (mixed colors: red, green, yellow)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the beef by slicing 1 pound of flank or sirloin steak against the grain.
- Slice the vegetables by cutting 2 cups of mixed bell peppers and 1 large onion into thin strips.
- Heat the skillet by pouring 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil into a heated skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the steak in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes, until browned, avoiding overcrowding the pan.
- Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet, cooking for another 3 minutes until tender yet slightly crispy.
- Prepare the sauce by combining 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup beef broth, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch in a small bowl.
- Thicken the sauce by pouring the mixture over the steak and vegetables, letting it cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider marinating the beef before cooking. Customize with your favorite vegetables.
