Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients in another bowl and whisk together.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, alternating flour and milk.
  6. Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  8. Cool the cupcakes for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. Make the buttercream frosting by beating butter and gradually adding powdered sugar.
  10. Frost the cooled cupcakes with the buttercream using a piping bag or spatula.
