  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the milk gradually to form a sticky dough.
  5. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface.
  6. Roll the dough to 1-inch thickness and cut out shortcakes.
  7. Bake the shortcakes for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form; add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  9. Assemble the dessert with strawberries and whipped cream between the shortcake halves.
