Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan.
- Mix the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the milk gradually to form a sticky dough.
- Knead the dough gently on a floured surface.
- Roll the dough to 1-inch thickness and cut out shortcakes.
- Bake the shortcakes for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form; add powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Assemble the dessert with strawberries and whipped cream between the shortcake halves.
