Description

A delightful and convenient dish perfect for picnics, potlucks, or family dinners, combining tuna, pasta, and fresh vegetables in a creamy dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces short pasta (such as rotini, shells, or elbow macaroni)
  • 2 cans tuna, drained well
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup peas, thawed if frozen
  • 1/4 cup chopped dill pickles or 2 tablespoons relish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the pasta and cook it until just tender according to the package instructions.
  2. After cooking the pasta, drain it in a colander. Rinse briefly under cool water to stop the cooking process.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add the drained tuna to the bowl and gently flake it with a fork.
  5. Next, add the finely chopped celery, red onion, peas, pickles, and fresh herbs to the bowl.
  6. Finally, add the cooled pasta to the mixture and gently fold everything together.
  7. Taste the salad and adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, lemon juice, or mayonnaise if needed.
  8. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  9. When ready to serve, give the salad a gentle stir to recombine the ingredients.

Notes

Tuna Pasta Salad can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days. For a fresh taste, refresh with more dressing before serving leftovers.
