Description
A versatile and easy tuna pasta salad that combines delightful flavors and textures, perfect for lunch, dinner, or as a side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz pasta (fusilli or rotini)
- 1 can (5 oz) tuna, drained
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (optional)
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup celery, diced
- 1/2 cup bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by bringing a pot of salted water to a boil. Add your choice of pasta, either fusilli or rotini, and cook according to package instructions for al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it in a colander and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Allow it to cool completely.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled pasta with the drained tuna. Flake the tuna gently with a fork so that it mixes well with the pasta.
- Pour in the mayonnaise and, if you want a little extra creaminess, add Greek yogurt as well. This combination makes the salad rich, flavorful, and satisfying.
- Toss in the halved cherry tomatoes, diced celery, diced bell pepper, and diced red onion to the mixture. These veggies add both crunch and a pop of color.
- Add the lemon juice to brighten flavors and season with salt and pepper to taste. Be generous but remember that you can always adjust seasoning later. Mix everything well so that the sauce coats the pasta and vegetables evenly.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the salad to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together beautifully.
- Just before serving, you can garnish the salad with freshly chopped parsley if desired. This adds a nice flavor and makes the dish visually appealing.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. For added freshness, keep any greens separate until serving.
