Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare your waffle iron: Before you start mixing the ingredients, plug in your waffle iron to preheat it.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir these together until well mixed.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract if using. Mix until smooth.
- Combine dry and wet ingredients: Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Cook the waffles: Lightly grease your waffle iron and pour enough batter to cover the surface. Close and cook according to instructions, usually around 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve immediately or keep warm: Serve immediately with toppings or keep warm in a low oven until ready to serve.
