Description

Delicious homemade waffles that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your waffle iron: Before you start mixing the ingredients, plug in your waffle iron to preheat it.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir these together until well mixed.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract if using. Mix until smooth.
  4. Combine dry and wet ingredients: Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Cook the waffles: Lightly grease your waffle iron and pour enough batter to cover the surface. Close and cook according to instructions, usually around 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Serve immediately or keep warm: Serve immediately with toppings or keep warm in a low oven until ready to serve.

Notes

Customize waffles with your favorite toppings such as syrup, fruits, whipped cream, or chocolate.
