Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl, then set aside.
  3. Cream the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until creamy and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the flour mixture with the butter mixture gradually, and beat until well combined.
  6. Add the chocolate chips and nuts, folding them gently with a spatula.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are light golden brown.
  9. Cool the cookies on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve on a festive platter and consider decorating with icing or sprinkles. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
