- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 4×8 inch loaf pan by greasing it with butter or non-stick spray.
- Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth with some small chunks.
- Mix in the melted butter until combined.
- Add the baking soda and a pinch of salt to the mixture.
- Incorporate the sugar and beaten egg, stirring gently.
- Pour in the vanilla extract and mix well.
- Combine the all-purpose flour and fold it into the batter until just mixed.
- Include chopped walnuts if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Slice and enjoy plain or with butter or cream cheese.
Notes
Store banana bread tightly wrapped at room temperature for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
