Description

Deliciously tart and sweet, Classic Lemon Bars are a perfect dessert for any occasion, providing a refreshing bite that is easy to make.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Additional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9-inch square baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Make the crust by creaming together softened butter and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl.
  4. Add in all-purpose flour and salt, stirring until crumbly.
  5. Form the crust by pressing the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Prepare the lemon filling by whisking together eggs, granulated sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and baking powder.
  8. Pour the lemon mixture over the warm crust and spread evenly.
  9. Bake again for another 20-25 minutes until set.
  10. Cool the bars completely and dust with powdered sugar before slicing.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh lemons. Don’t overbake to maintain a moist texture.
